Yonex Introduces Off-Site PPA at Four Factories in Niigata to Advance Carbon Neutrality
NIIGATA, Japan – Yonex Co., Ltd. is proud to announce that, beginning in June 2026, it has introduced renewable energy through an off-site Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)*1 at its four factories in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, as part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.
Under this initiative, Yonex receives renewable electricity generated by ENEGLOBAL Co., Ltd. in Nagaoka City through Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc., a retail electricity provider. The initiative was realized following a proposal from Daishi Hokuetsu Bank, Ltd., enabling Yonex to introduce locally generated renewable energy for local consumption across its multiple manufacturing sites in Nagaoka City.
The renewable energy generated by a solar power plant in Nagaoka City (rated output: 990 kW) will cover approximately 18% of the electricity consumed at Yonex’s four factories and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 660 tons annually*2.
Yonex has been promoting initiatives under the “Carbon Neutrality” pillar of the “Yonex Environmental Vision 2050.” The introduction of renewable energy under this initiative represents an important step toward achieving carbon neutrality. Advancing these efforts at its factories in Nagaoka City—a key manufacturing base in Niigata Prefecture, where Yonex was founded—holds particular significance for Yonex as a company that has grown together with the local community. Moving forward, Yonex will continue to promote initiatives toward carbon neutrality, including the adoption of renewable energy, with deep appreciation for the region and a strong sense of responsibility.
*1: Off-site PPA refers to the purchase of renewable electricity and its associated environmental value from power generation facilities, such as solar power plants, installed at locations outside the company’s premises.
*2: Based on research by Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc.
