Yonex Introduces On-Site PPA at Niigata Factory Nagaoka and Begins Using Renewable Energy

NIIGATA, Japan – Yonex Co., Ltd. is proud to announce that, as part of its efforts toward carbon neutrality, it adopted an on-site Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)^*1 model at its Niigata Factory Nagaoka in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, and began using renewable energy generated by solar power on August 1, 2026.

Under this initiative, RICOH LEASING COMPANY, LTD. has installed solar power generation equipment on the roof of Yonex’s Niigata Factory Nagaoka. The electricity generated by this equipment is supplied to Yonex under a long-term agreement. This enables Yonex to use renewable energy generated by solar power at the factory without making an initial investment, while also helping stabilize electricity costs.

The system has a capacity of 896.72 kW and is expected to generate approximately 850,000 kWh of electricity annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 295 tons per year^*2.

Under the “Carbon Neutrality” pillar of the “Yonex Environmental Vision 2050,” Yonex has been expanding its use of renewable energy as part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality. In June 2026, Yonex began using renewable energy through an off-site PPA at four other factories in Nagaoka City, separate from Niigata Factory Nagaoka. This on-site PPA follows that initiative and will further advance CO₂ emissions reduction at Yonex’s manufacturing sites. Moving forward, Yonex will continue to steadily implement effective initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of its business activities.


*1: On-site PPA refers to a model in which power generation equipment, such as solar panels, is installed on a customer’s premises or building rooftop, and the electricity generated is supplied directly to and purchased by the customer.
